About Williams Electric
A local electrical company built from a father's dream and carried forward by his son.
A Dream That Started With a Father
In 2000, my dad, David Williams Sr., earned his electrical contracting license. He was an industrial electrician by trade, but his dream was to build his own electrical service company — Williams Electric.
He had everything in place to launch his dream when he discovered a lump in his abdomen. It was metastatic melanoma. A cancerous mole he had previously had removed had returned and spread throughout his body.
He fought cancer for about a year, traveling across the country trying different treatments. Sadly, he passed away on December 21, 2001.
I was 17 years old when my dad passed. He was my best friend. While his life ended in 2001, his dream never did.
After graduating high school in 2002, I began my electrical career with Alexander Electric, where I had the opportunity to learn from some of the best electricians in our area. I spent the next several years learning both the residential and commercial sides of the electrical trade while growing a business of my own on the side.
In 2016, I earned my unrestricted electrical licenses in Georgia and Alabama and became the first full-time employee of Williams Electric Company.
What started as a seed inside my dad's heart has grown into something far bigger than either of us probably imagined. Today, Williams Electric has a team of approximately 12–15 employees and has had the opportunity to work alongside some of the area's best contractors on major projects throughout our community.
I believe God has been in this journey every step of the way. As the Apostle Paul wrote in Ephesians, God can do "exceedingly more than we can ever imagine."
Williams Electric is more than a business to me. It is my dad's dream, carried forward.
I can't wait to tell my dad all about it someday.
